Tanner Mathis delivered a bases loaded walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the No. 18-ranked Mississippi Rebels to a 4-3 Southeastern Conference win over No. 22 Alabama on Sunday afternoon from Swayze Field. The Rebels completed the series sweep with the win, as the Crimson Tide drops to 22-16 overall and 8-7 in SEC play. Mississippi improves to 26-10 overall and 7-8 in conference play. The Rebels got a single by Sikes Orvis to open the 11th, then a bunt single by Cameron Dishon put runners on first and second with no out. Ray Castillo walked Preston Overbuy walked to load the bases, then after Castillo struck out Will Jamison, Mathis singled to left field on the first pitch to drive in the game-winning run.

Southern Miss Baseball


             Andrew Furr delivered a pinch-hit RBI single through the right side in the top of the ninth to lift Southern Miss to a 2-1 non-conference baseball victory over nationally ranked Ole Miss here Tuesday night at Trustmark Park. The Golden Eagles won their eighth-straight victory as it is the longest winning streak for the program since winning 12 consecutive games from April 23-May 15, 2010.

Southern Miss


              Blake Brown laced a game-winning double into left-center in the top of the 10th to lead Southern Miss to a 2-1 decision over New Orleans here Tuesday night at Wesley Barrow Stadium. Southern Miss improved to 14-17 on the year, while the Privateers fell to 5-27. The two teams will finish the two-game midweek series with a 6 p.m. contest Wednesday, at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.

Southern Miss


Southern Miss sophomore outfielder Mason Robbins collected Conference USA Hitter of the Week honors in an announcement Monday by the league office in Irving, Texas. Robbins captured the award by hitting safely in all four games this past week, improving his current hitting streak to seven games. He finished last week by hitting .688, which included his second four-hit game of the season coming against South Alabama.
